What Should You Tell Your Daughter About Dating

Posted by: JACKIE  |  Posted in: Parenting  |  Posted on: 03-29-2009

Some parents might feel uncomfortable talking to their daughter about dating. It might make your daughter feel uncomfortable sometimes talking to dad or mom about it. Your daughter might be embarrassed to talk to you about a certain guy that she might like. Here are five important issues to talk to your daughter about dating.

1. Talk to her about her manners. Let her know what manners are appropriate during a date. Let her know that she needs to say please and thank you to the guy. Another thing is to let her know how he should be treating her such as opening doors for her and helping her with her chair.

2. Caution her about how some males only want to have sex. Tell her about how some men will say anything to get sex. Let her know that some males might try to pressure her into having sex before she is ready. Tell her that she shouldn’t have sex with someone before marriage. Tell her about the risks of pregnancy by having unprotected sex and other risks such as diseases. Warn her about the great dangers of sexually transmitted diseases.

3. Explain to her the signs of a bad boyfriend or date. Let her know that she can talk to you about anything. Let her know that she needs to be able to recognize the signs of someone that isn’t good for her. Tell her that she has every right to end a date or relationship at any time.

4. Caution her that she should always keep some extra money in her purse just in case she ever needs it. Let her know that she can always call you or someone else parents to get her out of trouble if her date doesn’t treat her right. Make sure that your daughter has a cell phone for emergencies.

5. Explain to your daughter that she shouldn’t date people that use drugs or sell drugs. Explain to her that reasons illegal drugs are bad and the risks associated with it. Make sure to tell her that HIV/AIDS can be passed through needles when people do illegal drugs.

It might be uncomfortable at first talking to your daughter about these things. The more you talk about it then the more comfortable your daughter will feel talking to you. It is a good idea to let your daughter know that she can talk to you about anything regarding dating and males. Make sure that your daughter has a curfew time to be home by a certain time when she is out on dates. Make sure that she does wear appropriate clothes on a date.

Talk to her about her dating habits to let her know that you would like to know where she is going to on a date and make sure that she lets you know the name of the guy that she is going out with. It might be extreme, but perhaps doing a criminal background check is a good idea just to be safe. Make sure you get the males phone number and a description of the vehicle that he is driving. When she goes out dating, make sure you write down the license plate number she rides with.

Help Choosing The Right new new baby name

Choosing a new baby name can sometimes be an exhausting process. It requires the agreement of your partner, or various family members, plus it has to have certain qualities. More often than not there’s a family tradition that you may feel obligated to carry on using.

However it is also right that you should remember, that when choosing a new babies name it should be the one that you do really like. Don’t choose a name if you don’t feel absolutely at ease with it. Don’t go with the passing trends either, a name that’s very popular today can often sound out of date, in just a few years time. You also don’t want to saddle your child with a name that they might be embarrassed to go by.

Think Carefully about that New Baby Name

Be especially careful that the new baby name you have chosen does not set the unfortunate child up for a life long time of teasing. Celebrities may get away with ridiculous names for their babies because of their wealth and fame, but your children will be thankful to you for passing, on having named them anything too zany.

Even if you have not selected the first name that is out there, be extra careful of what a child’s initials end up spelling out. Theresa Irene Thompson sounds fine when you speak it out loud, but when you write her initials down it could cause some prefuse blushing. So try to make sure that all the new baby names you have picked, don’t spell something very rude.

The Advantages of Hiring a Wedding Planner

Posted by: houstonp  |  Posted in: Parenting  |  Posted on: 03-5-2009

I did not hire a wedding planner when I got married. I should have. It would have made my life a lot easier. Yes, I made it through the event. The wedding happened and it was… well, a wedding. Best of all, I married a wonderful man and had all my family and friends around to help us celebrate. But it could have been much better with the assistance of a wedding planner / coordinator / consultant / designer (yes, there are subtle differences, but for the most part the terms are interchangeable) it could have been much more memorable. For more information refer to wedding coordination

Now that I have worked in the industry for more than a few years I would not need their services as much as I did the first time, but I would still seriously think about employing a wedding planner. The reasons are multiple, but here are the main reasons:

Ideas: An experienced wedding planner offers you the one thing no bride (except a serial bride) has -experience. Even an unimaginative one has been involved with enough weddings and seen enough to have ideas that you have probably never thought of. Besides, most wedding planners get into the wedding planning business because they love weddings. They love to dream of new and imaginative ways to stage a wedding. This reason alone could help you break the cookie cutter wedding mold and avoid the common mistakes that turn an otherwise elegant affair into a tacky event.

Knowledge of Resources: A good coordinator has the experience to know what constitutes a good price and is poor price on each particular discipline that are commonly used for weddings. Likewise they know where to find everything from wedding cakes to the favors that you need for your wedding saving you a ton of time running all around… even if you choose a wedding planner that lets you do the leg work (but why would you? Your engagement period should be a time of building your relationship, not pulling your hair out!).

Scheduling Expertise: A good consultant knows how much time the decorators, florist, and pastry chef are likely to need to get your wedding venues ready for your wedding considering exactly what you want in each area, saving you the hassle of booking the venue only to discover later that you paid for too much or too little time to accomplish your wedding goals. Likewise, they have the experience to know how other factors impact the scheduling of your wedding. For more information visit wedding management

Contract Expertise: They are familiar with wedding contracts. An experienced wedding planner knows what is standard in the wedding industry and what is not. This can save you a lot of money.

Professional Distance: Your wedding design consultant is not emotionally involved in your wedding. Therefore when they meet with your vendors they will less likely to succumb to the temptation to buy things that you do not need to achieve your wedding dream.

Stress Relief: A wedding planner can save you a huge amount of stress. Not only will they do the leg work to contract all your vendors, but a good one will supervise everything on your wedding day so all you have to focus on is getting yourself ready for your wedding, your new husband, and generally enjoying the day with all of your loved ones around you.

Of course, just like anything else, the trick is to interview perspective wedding planners just like you would any other wedding professional. Look for experience, professional credentials, creativity, indications that their style matches your own, and above all a willingness to listen and help you discover the details of what you want for your big day.

As a result of a little bit of work on your part hiring a wedding planning professional you should be rewarded with a much less stressful engagement as someone else takes care of making sure that everything is just right. But even better, with your wedding planner’s expertise and practiced negotiating skills, the money you pay a wedding planner is often recouped to a large part over what you would have paid for your wedding on your own.
