There is no doubt that the internet has profoundly changed our shopping habits. An extraordinary amount of people are now finding online shopping to be convenient as well as a great experience. Of course this wasn’t always the case – in the past people were concerned about the security issues, but not anymore it seems. In a study performed by the University of Texas, internet businesses generated $301 billion in revenue last year. Although online shopping is now considered to be as safe as any other form of shopping, there are a couple of precautions that we feel we should mention:
- Use well known stores if possible. If this is not possible then you must make sure that the payment page has a URL/web address that begins with https – this confirms and ensures that the page is secure.
- Check the stores Returns Policy. When buying online you are making a purchase without seeing the item first. As this is so, it is important that the store has a reasonable Returns Policy.
